An ocean reprieve

Getting away from being in lockdown or simply working from home is critical to our mental health. Even if the trip is a short one it can really refresh our outlook. And I think everyone is seeking a brain refresh these days.

A friend of mine, Steve Proctor, recently took a quick trip to the shores of Nova Scotia and I wanted to share some of his photographs and notes.

We are away for the weekend at a hotel by the ocean.

It snowed over night and the ocean is angry. Waves of steel grey crash against black rocks.

The water turns periwinkle green briefly and then foams white.

The anger dissipates as the waves reach to the ice covered shore. They never quite make the escape they seek.

Like a prisoner held fast by steel bars, the waves assault on the beach fail over and over and over again as the leading effort is sucked back into the belly of the ocean beast.

The kind of pictures that are beautiful, when viewed on a friend’s blog. Once, someone offered a chance to move to Nova Scotia. After living in Minnesota that was a big NO.
