Fear is scary. It can be so overwhelming; it can paralyze you, leaving only shards of piercing panic ripping at your every nerve.
Fear acts like screeching breaks on your mind and body. You’re trapped in a state of fight or flight scrambling for some light, any light.
Fear is real, and it’s also necessary. Without fear, we wouldn’t know when to stop, and many times when to listen to ourselves.
So, how about this. Next time you feel buried alive in fear, stop. Sit down with the feeling, take a deep breath and listen to it.
What is it telling you? Is there a memory that needs processing? Maybe a trigger that is begging for some comfort. Or perhaps a decision that needs to be re-addressed.
Because, if you sit with your fear and listen, it probably won’t scream at you so loudly. And you’ll learn something that your subconscious needs to tell you.
Don’t fall into the popular myth that all fear must be blindly overcome and charged through.
Listen to it first and then perhaps take a wiser course.
Yes! It is better to listen than to disable an important warning system.
For sure.
