Shouting Into The Wind: Our Voice, Influence And Power.

September 25, 2015 //  by Amanda Ricks

“Anything worth shouting about is worth shouting into the wind.”

“Because if enough people care, often enough, the word spreads, the standards change, the wind dies down. If enough people care, the culture changes.

It’s easy to persuade ourselves that the right time to make change happen is when it’s time. But that’s never true. The right time to make it happen is before its time. Because this is what ‘making’ means.

The most devastating thing we can learn about our power is how much we have. How much change we could make if we would only speak up first, not last. How much influence we can have if we’re willing to look someone in the eye and say, “yes.” Or, “this is our problem, too.” Or, “this must stop.”

Yes, there’s wind, there’s always been wind. But that doesn’t mean we should stop shouting.”

Seth Godin’s Blog  Sept. 14, 2015

This post blew me away on so many levels. As I read it, I was able to envision the multiple of levels of innuendo. However, being a regular human and therefore self-driven I settled on my personal interpretation. How did it apply to me?

~ It’s taken me a long time to learn that anything worth shouting about is worth doing so into the wind, (rain and storms.)

~ I admit that a lot of the time I’m shouting (and fighting) for my loved ones and myself and not for all of us as a whole.

~ Personally it has been devastating seeing my lack of power and any influence I have when I don’t stand up and shout.

You are correct if you’re saying to yourself  “seems like there’s an awful lot of Seth Godin stuff on this blog lately.” My apologies, for some reason I just keep getting caught up in what he has to say right now. Never fear this phase will pass.

I’m curious though, did his post bring up anything interesting for you?
