“Civita di Bagnoregio…. “the town that is dying”, on a misty morning. Civita was founded by Etruscans more than 2,500 years ago.Due to erosion, the buildings are crumbling as their underlying support falls away, making it uninhabitable.” ~ Urdoi Catalin, Photographer. Beautiful photos, Amanda. The town looks so magical..
Thanks, the town does indeed have a magical look to it.
Beautiful image; but sad story.
Yes, it is a sad story. But as you say, a beautiful image.
I suppose it is natural erosion that is causing the town to crumble; that’s better than it being destroyed by human activity I guess.
Oh yes, I’m much more comfortable with natural erosion. Like the concept of nature slowly taking back what originally belonged to it. Maybe I’m silly.
If you’re silly, then I am too, cos I was thinking much the same thing. 🙂
Good. Hahaha
This composition is simply stunning. So sad that this is becoming a ghost city
I agree. Thanks for your comment.
I wonder if the same could happen to other hilltop towns in Italy.
Unfortunately, if the circumstances are similar I would guess, yes.
